The world famous squeaky chair!

Originally known as the "nice comfy chair by the fire" the poor thing developed a squeak!

Before long, helpfull suggestions on how to deal with it were pouring in from all over the world... all to no avail.

In fact, it's the entire raison d'etre of my nodename! A long time back when I first joined IRC I was asked to supply a nickname... a bit flustered, taken unawares by a request to deliberately not be *myself* - I chose the first thing that came to mind... i.e. Squeaky - after my then standard sig which read "Richard - whose nice comfy chair by the fire has a squeak!"

Suffice it to say, I became so well known as Squeaky, and caused such confusion when I referred to myself by my given name, that the only sensible thing to do was to adopt my IRC nickname as my nodename.

It still squeaks [and creaks] to this day!
